When you believe in yourself, have self confidence and take daily action, you will have the key ingredients to possessing a success mindset. This success mindset strengthens your tenacity, your commitment and determination to achieve your aspirations in life.

If you don’t possess the success mindset, when you are faced with a challenge or a problem, even a small one, you will shy away from it, set it aside for a later day, or totally give on what you were pursuing.

By believing in yourself and having a success mindset, you will overcome any challenges, setbacks and progress on from any failures – I believe failures are successes in disguise – so along as you make it a genuine point to learn from your failures.

In order to succeed in any area in your life, you must have that belief that you are a success. Any blocks, or limiting beliefs, the “Oh yeah sure…” need to be dealt with; weakened and eliminated, then, in their place, you programme enhancing, empowering beliefs, those that are in line with your desires , aspirations or objectives.

How can you do that?

One method is to get yourself a journal, divide one page of that journal into two columns. In one column jot down what your associations with, say money are. For example, money is hard to get, money is not important to me, money is only for the rich, and so on.

In the other column, write down the opposite of each of your limiting beliefs. Using the beliefs above, money comes to me easily and effortlessly, money is important to me, there is plenty of money for everyone including me, and so on.

Set the empowering beliefs as affirmations that you can say out loud (where possible, and in front of a mirror). Select 2 or 3 affirmations at a time and repeat them as often as you can upon awakening (while shaving, brushing your teeth, in the shower, driving to work) and just before bedtime and as you lay in bed; let the final thoughts as you drift off to sleep be your affirmations.

In due course, you will have weeded out the limiting beliefs and will have instilled your empowering ones, and will have started your journey to having a success mindset.

Does it matter what you believe? Or put in another way, does it matter what your beliefs are in your financial area, or your relationships? Or what your health beliefs are?

The answer is a definite, unequivocal yes!

Your beliefs control the way you live your life; they shape your life, your financial life, your relationships, and your health. In fact, the way you are living your life now is directed and shaped by the beliefs that you are holding.

The thing to realise here is that most of your beliefs are sabotaging you from greatness; they are mostly not based on facts or reality. They are not based on truth.

They are beliefs that you gained as you progressed through life. You sucked in beliefs like a sponge, especially when you were a child; from your parents, friends, teachers, books, movies, and so on. And those beliefs are now the way you see, understand and interpret the world, your world.

You make your daily decisions based upon those beliefs; those beliefs that were not yours in the first place.

Some of these beliefs may be helpful, while others may be unfavourable and damaging. One of the most common beliefs is, “I am not good enough.” Many people have been told that statement when they were young; by their parents, teachers or teased by their friends.

This belief, that you heard many times when you were young, has the power and potential of keeping you stuck where you are. Whatever you attempt to do, you will probably fail, simply because you have this belief that you are not good enough.

As if that were true. That belief is utter rubbish. It isn’t true.

If you couldn’t draw a horse when you were a child and you were told you’re not good enough, what has that got to do with you running your own business at the age of 25?

In theory, nothing. But you held on to that belief that you are not good enough, and it has unconsciously held you back from having that successful business.

That’s what I mean by limiting beliefs are lies. Certainly a very high percentage of them are, and yet they govern our lives, as in the example I have just mentioned.

The limiting belief of “I am not good enough” must be eliminated from your unconscious mind and must be replaced with a self enhancing belief, so you may move forward and become the successful business owner that is within your right to be.

Do you find that you are struggling to achieve an aspiration, an objective or a goal? Have you been diligently working at that particular goal for a while now and not making any significant progress?

I used to be like that and then I made an amazing discovery. One that made me think in a different way every waking moment, one that made me realise why I haven’t been able to achieve most of my goals in spite of my working hard and meticulously towards them.

That discovery did not come about by chance. After a long while of working hard, working smart, working long hours towards one of my goals and not achieving it, I decided to ask myself, over and over again the question, What do I have to do to achieve my goal?

I presume by the process of the Law of Attraction, I come across the word ‘beliefs’ in a book I was reading, and that word stuck out like a sore thumb and for some reason I was incapable of getting it out of my mind.

It wasn’t that long before I uncovered the truth.

I realised that for me to achieve my goal I needed to first identify my core beliefs about that goal; find out which ones were in line with my goal and which ones weren’t.

You see, if my beliefs were in alignment, my journey to achieving that goal would have received much less resistance. However, if my beliefs were not in alignment my goal, it would be highly unlikely that I would achieve it.

Those beliefs that were not in alignment are my limiting beliefs, my sabotaging beliefs. They are the ones that would stop me cold, dead in my tracks. They would not allow me to achieve my goal. There would be times while on the journey where I might think I was making some headway, but in the long run, I was not progressing as much as I wanted to.

It was only after I identified, challenged and eliminated the limiting beliefs and had them working with me as opposed to against me did I achieve the goal that I had wanted.

So what does this story of mine have anything to do with you?

If you are also struggling, not progressing or progressing extremely slowly in living the life that you want, or painfully not heading in the right direction to manifest the goal that you want, you must first identify what is holding you back; single out all your limiting beliefs in that particular area.

How?

Say you want to have high self confidence whilst giving a marketing presentation. Say to yourself, “I am going to give the best presentation of my life next week.” Then notice and write all the “Yeah, but…” or “No way. You’re going to stutter all the way through” or “You’ll be a nervous wreck.”

Write every single one of them down.

These are your limiting, self sabotaging beliefs. They are the ones that are holding you back. They are the beliefs that keep you from getting any closer to your goal or goals.

Now that you have written them down – each and every one of them – you will then need to tackle them, again each and every one of them. You will have to replace them with powerful self enhancing beliefs. Ones that support what you are seeking.

Admittedly, it’s not an easy thing to do. You will really have to pay close attention to your core beliefs. Listen up very attentively to the “Yeah, but…” as they surface. Always carry a small pad and pen, whenever a limiting belief crops up immediately write it down. When you get home, add it to the list of sabotaging, negative beliefs that you will work on.

The big question is, How do you change or eliminate your limiting, negative and sabotaging beliefs?

An extremely powerful method I found is laughing them off, one by one, or blowing each limiting belief out of proportion, so much so that it becomes so laughable and ridiculous that it will not happen.

Again, laugh them off.

You see your world through what I call your “beliefs eyes”. What you believe is what you see. If you believe the world is full of cruel people, then that’s what you will see – many cruel people. If, on the other hand, you believe the world has plenty of kind and considerate people you will see masses of them.

Where do your beliefs come from?

Your beliefs are created, controlled and influenced by your thoughts; the thoughts that you have or those you were told as a youngster growing up from everyone around you.

If you think the same thing over and over again, you will eventually believe that thought. For example, if you consistently thought rich people are greedy, you will, in time, develop this belief that rich men are greedy.

Over time, this belief gains momentum and power, and becomes engraved I stone. It becomes a core belief – a belief that is the foundation about how you see rich people and what you also think about money.

So, let’s say you now want to make more money, and you try very hard to get that raise or increase your sales, more than likely you’ll not achieve your goal because your beliefs stop you; they do not want you to be rich.

Why?

Because you think rich people are greedy!

So your beliefs will do whatever it takes to stop you from joining the ‘greedy bunch’. Your beliefs will defiantly say, “Hey, you believe rich people are greedy, so you definitely don’t want to be part of that greedy bunch. Stay clear of them. You’re a nice guy. Stay that way.”

What happens, you’ll never be rich.

If you want to have more money and be rich, you will need to change that core belief.

You will need to have a new self-enhancing belief, such as: “Rich men are kind and generous.” Otherwise your limiting belief will forever stand in your way. If you do somehow land with lots of money, such as an inheritance, your limiting belief will kick it and make sure you get rid of that money quickly and put you right back to where you started from – no or very little money.

So, does it matter what you believe? You bet!
