One trick I learned that made a huge difference on my self confidence was to speak slowly and clearly.
Have you noticed how people with authority or are very knowledgeable or experts in their field tend to talk slowly?
Check it out. Next time you are watching the news or a documentary, listen to the way the leaders or experts speak.
Talking slow shows self confidence.
When you are confident you talk slowly because you are worth listening to. There is no need to rush through what you have to say, so you can breathe easy again and mentally say, Phew! That’s over and done with.
Have a shot at it. Talk slowly at smaller occasions and situations to start off with, and build on them, until sooner than you think you will be making a long speech in front of a large audience.
This is a great way to build self confidence, and it also helps reduce fear of public speaking.

Hani, you make an excellent point about speaking slowly, and if I may, I’d like to add that when you also gesture slowly and purposefully (as opposed to rapidly and erratically) this also increases feelings of self-confidence and also communicates and creates an aura of confidence to others.
Best,

Thank you, David, for your comment.
Yes, the gestures, too, play an integral part in increasing self-confidence.
Thank you for pointing that out.
