What was I thinking

As I turned the door handle, she burst into my office, her head down shaking in disbelief, repeating the same question over and over again: “What was I thinking? I can’t believe I did that.”

“Did what?” I asked.

On the spur of the moment this debonair, well-spoken executive leapt out of her black leather chair and stormed into her boss’s office at 5:30pm, demanded a raise and left the building.

On the spur of the moment, on impulse, without thinking.

Most of us have done something in our lives that we later question. Yet, who do we question? Who do we blame, or thank, for our actions? We hold our spontaneous or consciously deliberate thoughts accountable for our emotions and behaviour.

Everything begins with a thought. Our thoughts, our reflections, direct the lives that we lead. Our thoughts can drive us to fulfil our dreams.

If you were to change the thought “if only” to “next time” for a day or so, what new opportunities will open for you?

By the way – she got the raise!
