You see things and you say, “Why?” But I dream things that never were, and I say, “Why not?” – George Bernard Shaw.

I have this quote framed in my office and I recite it every morning, without fail.

Whenever I don’t feel as confident as I want to feel in a given situation, or I feel scared and nervous, I repeat this quotation a few times and then I challenge the event that had stalled me.

Why not? What have I got to lose but learn from the experience that could’ve held me back? That took away my self-confidence.

I recite, Why not then I stand tall, portray an appearance of confidence and confront the challenge.

Did you know that developing self-confidence is a skill that you can put into practice as you go about your daily activities?

Well, it’s true. You can do so by continually having confident thoughts circulating within your mind.

The more you consciously focus on practising self-confidence, the sooner will you stand tall, confident, poised and self-assured.

Should you face any situations where you lack confidence, breathe in deeply and focus. Practise confident thoughts, such as, “I confidently think fast on my feet; I am filled with confidence; My growing confidence squashes all doubt.” You may come up with some of your own.

The more you practise, the quicker you will overcome your lack of confidence that has been holding you back.

For you to have added self-confidence you need to decide right now, that you will take the necessary action, to do whatever is required, to become confident.

And the sooner you make that decision the sooner you can enjoy the success and happiness that self-confidence can bring.

That single decision alone, to take action, can literally change your present and future.

Now that you have categorically decided that you want to progress in life to acquire enhanced confidence, the first step is for you to ensure that your inner thoughts are in line with that decision.

By being wary of your moment-by-moment thoughts you will enhance your self-confidence and be on the road to further achievements and happiness.

So get going! Start off by thinking you are more confident than yesterday. That’s a great start to enhance your self-confidence.

One amazing benefit that I found from writing down my strengths and talents is that it puts me in an upbeat and optimistic frame of mind.

Try it! Write down your strengths and talents and feel yourself get excited and energised. Feel the strength from within come back to life as you become eager and alive, thrilled and highly confident.

You might find yourself saying, “Wow. I did that. I achieved that!” And watch how this enhances your self-confidence even more.

Want to take it yet another step? Read over your notes again a few more times, and bathe in the powerful and electrifying confident emotions that you are having.
